New Lufthansa arm to offer e-commerce solutions

Lufthansa Cargo is offering a custom solutions service to its e-commerce clients. A new wholly-owned subsidiary, heyworld, based in Frankfurt with Timo Schamber as managing director will offer a range of configurable transport solutions aimed at online retailers, digital marketplaces and forwarders.

Described as a digital-first shipping company, it aims to integrate seamlessly with customers’ storefronts, ERP systems or shipping software. Shipments will move on 2,387 daily flights to 31 worldwide destinations operated by Lufthansa and its partner airlines Austria, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.

Lufthansa Cargo chief executive and executive board chairman Peter Gerber added: “By establishing heyworld, we are creating a simple and reliable transport solution for the e-commerce sector,”
