The two 747s were officially replaced by the 777s in April, and will be sold for Y1.3 billion ($11.9 million), says JASDF.
The aircraft’s VVIP interiors, however, will be turned over to museums. One interior will go to the Hamaamatsu Kouhou-kan public information facility. The destination of the second interior has yet to be ascertained.
Cirium’s Fleets Analyzer shows that the aircraft bear serial numbers 24730 and 24731, and have been in service for 28 years. The aircraft are powered by General Electric CF6 engines.
During their service life they provided transport for prime ministers as well as the Japanese Imperial family.
