Ospentos International joins Internet of Logistics

Trucker and cargo handler Ospentos International and its software provider Qstep have joined the Internet of Logistics initiative led by Finnair, Air France KLM and Ericsson.

The Internet of Logistics initiative was launched last year and aims to transform peer-to-peer message-based communication towards multi-party data sharing to increase shipment visibility through a Logistics Data Interchange (LDI).

Finnair Cargo digitalisation project manager Mika Leppänen said: “Finnair Cargo wants to be active player in ongoing digitalisation and Internet of things (IoT) enabled transformation.

“We are extremely happy that Ospentos and its software provider Qstep is joining the Internet of Logistics open initiative. Together we are developing leading-edge open standards for data sharing and taking practical steps for customer value creation in emerging digital ecosystems.”

Ospentos International board member Haiti Arendi added: “For Ospentos, which provides innovative and sophisticated air cargo handling and trucking services to the airlines, freight forwarders and the entire air cargo chain, joining the Internet of Logistics initiative provides not only with the opportunity to be in the driver´s seat for all developments in future technologies but also gives a chance to contribute to the process of shaping the digitalisation of air cargo industry.”

In order to keep all the initiatives under one umbrella, IATA is developing its One Record standard to serve as a design guide for implementing systems which can share logistics data universally and independently.
